The OPUA Music Hall is located on the north side of the ground and the northwest side of the second campus. It is a two-story building with a basement floor, and the total floor area of the facility is about 2000 square meters. With a 390-seat capacity performance hall at its center, the Music Hall building is equipped with amenities such as practice rooms, classrooms and a recording studio. It plays a significant part in the university\u2019s education program.
\nThe building architecture was carefully designed to blend in with its immediate environment which is formed with historic buildings such as those of Shurijo Castle at its center. To accomplish this, the building was designed not to exceed 12 meters in height, with multiple roofs to avoid a simple single plane, and to make it look visually smaller than it is. For the exterior finish, red tiles were used for roofing and Ryukyu limestone as the principle material for the walls.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Though the Music Hall and its range of equipment are mainly designed for concerts, they are capable of accommodating presentations on traditional performing arts as well. For example, depending on the nature of the program, access to the stage can be modified according to need, and sound reverberation time in the hall can be altered from 1.4 to 1.8 seconds.
\nIn addition to this, the walls, floors and ceiling in the practice rooms and classrooms are constructed with acoustical panels. There is also a 52 ton underground tank to irrigate the greenery on campus, making the most efficient use of water resources possible.
\nIn its use of the Music Hall, an indispensable educational center for music performances and presentations of research results, the university strives to contribute to the cultural and artistic activities of the local community as a specialized facilty for musical performance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
